Fairtrade at Number 10
The Fairtrade Foundation is celebrating 15 years of the Fairtrade Mark in the UK this month.
As part of the celebrations this week there was a tea party at Downing Street hosted by Sarah Brown, the Prime Ministers Wife.
Amongst 50 Fairtrade pioneers was Andy Good, our Managing Director.
"Whilst this was an excellent public recognition of the movements success, particularly recognizing the patient work of activists over several decades, much remains to be done.
We all face new challenges as business giants engage, both to ensure that small-scale farmers benefit from this growth and that the pioneers continue to be the innovative social conscience of the movement."
The UK Government also recently announced that it will provide £12 million in funding over the next four years to the Fairtrade Foundation and its international partner the Fairtrade Labelling Organisation International (FLO) in order to expand Fairtrade certification globally.
