Bee-keeping is an essential means to a cash income for the farmers of the Miel Mexicana del Volcan Popcatepetl co-operative who live in Morelos, one of the poorest states in Mexico.

Despite their income from the bees, they still need to supplement their cash, and every year some of the family members work as farm labourers in the United States for a few months.

The farmers live in Northern Mexico but every spring they migrate, with their hives, to the Veracruz coastal orange grove region to capture the honey harvest from the fragrant orange blossom. This area is blessed with all the necessary elements to produce high quality oranges, adding to the superb taste of this delicate honey.

This delicious honey is unpasteurised to preserve its complex blend of minerals, vitamins, pollen and protein.

Honey production in this region has a long tradition and is famous internationally.
